Deoria Tal Trek

Deoria Tal is a high altitude Himalayan lake in the Chopta Valley and situated at 3035metres above sea level. Legend has it that this lake is the same one as that described in the Mahabharata where Yudhisthir, in return for water from the lake to quench his thirst, had answered the questions asked by the sage Yaksh.
The Chopta Valley can be visited throughout the year with each season having its own unique flavor. Mid-March to Mid-April is the time of rhododendrons and the entire valley is wears a reddish pink color. Monsoons always have accentuate the greenery in the region and the months of September and October with their blue skies and more predictable weather conditions ensure a clearer view of the Himalayan peaks.
When visiting Deoria Tal, one must not miss trekking up to Tunganath temple and Chandrashila peak. This can easily be clubbed together as they are located very close to each other.

The following is an itinerary from Haridwar to Deoria Tal
Day 1: Haridwar to Sari (200km)
We will receive you at Haridwar and drive up to the village Sari. Overnight at home stays or guest houses or in tents.

Day 2: Sari to Deoria Tal (4km trek):
Today we trek up to Deoria Tal. It is an easy trek of about 4km amidst forests. When you reach your destination you are immediately greeted by the lake flanked by majestic Himalayan peaks. We camp here tonight.

Day 3: We wake up early in the morning to view the sunrise and the reflection of the Chaukhamba peak on the waters of the lake. We then trek back to Sari and can either drive back to Haridwar or proceed on to Chopta for the Chopta - Tunganath - Chandrashila trek.
